PG&E, and MCE in two cities

Who sells you power out east

PG&E delivers to all four cities, and two of them buy their electricity through MCE.

PG&E in Antioch and Brentwood

Both the generation and the delivery come from PG&E here, and its rate periods are what we design the battery schedule around.

MCE in Pittsburg and Oakley

MCE purchases power for these cities while PG&E delivers it, and its battery program pays a monthly credit for grid support.

Same meter, same interconnection

No matter which agency buys your power, PG&E still owns the interconnection process, and we file it for you.

East county heat

Why these homes are good candidates

Inland summers, newer roofs and households that use plenty of power after dark.

Long, hot cooling season

East county runs hotter than the bay side for months at a time, so the array works hardest exactly when the meter spins fastest.

Newer tract roofs

Much of Brentwood and Oakley was built in the last twenty-five years, which usually means simple planes and straightforward attachment.

Evening-heavy usage

Commuter families load up the house after six, which is the case for storing the afternoon rather than exporting it.

What applies out here

East Contra Costa incentives

In Pittsburg and Oakley, MCE has offered a monthly bill credit of roughly $10 to $20 for home batteries enrolled in its grid-support program. Antioch and Brentwood households, served entirely on PG&E, lean on SGIP instead, the state storage incentive that can cover a substantial share of battery cost for qualifying homes. The federal 30% credit for purchased home solar ended December 31, 2025; some third-party-owned lease and PPA programs can still apply a federal credit through 2027.

These programs are administered by outside agencies, with their own eligibility rules, enrollment windows and funding limits, and terms get revised. We check your city, your provider and your household against current rules when we prepare your quote.

Common questions

East Contra Costa questions

Do you actually come out this far?

Yes. East county is a regular part of our route, and we block schedule so a crew stays out here through the whole job instead of commuting daily.

I am in Oakley. How does the MCE battery credit work?

MCE pays a monthly credit when your battery is enrolled to support the grid during certain events. We explain what enrollment asks of your system before you decide.

Antioch and Brentwood get nothing then?

Not at all. Those cities are PG&E-served, so the storage help comes through SGIP if you qualify, plus the savings from using your own power in the evening.

Can you do the roof and the solar together out here?

Yes, and on a twenty-year-old roof it is the sensible order. We tear off, replace, then mount, and you pay for one mobilization instead of two.
